Got questions? We've got answers

The most common questions about roof tents, rental and delivery.

Two things decide it: whether the car can take crossbars, and how much dynamic roof load it is rated for. The tent and the bars together have to fit inside that limit — each tent's weight is in its specifications. That figure is in your car's manual and applies while driving; parked, a much higher static limit applies, and that is the one the people sleeping count against. Send us the make, model and year — we'll check, and we'll say so honestly if it does not fit.

A hardshell opens in seconds, is aerodynamic and quiet to drive — ideal for frequent travellers. A softshell offers more sleeping space for less money and suits those who stay put longer. The Horizon hybrid combines the strengths of both.

Hardshell tents open on gas struts in about 30 seconds. Softshell tents take 3–5 minutes to pitch. Packing down is slightly slower, as the fabric needs to be tucked in properly.

Choose a period, book via the inquiry form and bring your car to us — we fit the tent on the spot and give a quick walkthrough. At the end of your trip, bring the car back and we remove the tent. On long-term rentals, the rent can count toward a purchase.

Yes — if you rent a tent and then decide to buy the same model, we deduct up to 14 days of rent from the purchase price. It's a great way to try a model before buying.

Yes. Courier delivery within Estonia is free on orders over €1000. We also ship to Latvia, Lithuania, Finland and the rest of Europe — the rate is calculated by weight and destination.

All SkyTent tents carry a 2-year warranty covering material and manufacturing defects.

Yes. Hardshell tents handle the weather well and can stay on the car all season. For softshells we recommend a travel cover. For winter, we suggest removing the tent and storing it dry.

Yes. Our fabrics are waterproof (at least a 2000 mm water column) with taped seams. In strong wind we recommend parking the car nose-to-wind and using extra guy lines if needed.

Every product page has a "What's included" list under the purchase block. For the SkyTent Alu 130 the price covers the tent, a 50 mm mattress with a washable cover, the winter insulation layer, the anti-condensation mat, the ring LED light with a USB socket, the solar panel with its mounting frame, roof bars (2 pcs) and the telescopic ladder. Optional extras such as the 180° awning are priced separately and can go into the same quote.

The SkyTent Alu 130 comes with roof bars (2 pcs). Whether they mount on your car depends on the roof type — raised rails, integrated rails or a bare roof. Send us the make, model and year from the product page and we will check it against the manufacturer's data and tell you if anything else is needed.

The dynamic roof load applies while driving and is the figure in your car's manual — the tent and the crossbars together must fit inside it. The static roof load applies when the car is parked: it rests on its suspension and takes considerably more, and that is where the sleepers' weight goes. Confusing the two is the usual reason people assume a roof tent will not work on their car. Check your car's dynamic roof load in the manual, or send us your vehicle details.

There is no cart. Send an enquiry from the product page, we reply within one business day with a price and a delivery time, and then send an invoice with a payment term. Nothing is charged before you confirm the quote. Some products can be paid for with SkyTent's own instalment plan: a down payment and the rest in interest-free monthly instalments. Before the agreement we briefly check affordability. Whether the plan applies to a product is shown on its page under the price; the terms and a worked example are on the "Instalments" page. Warning! An instalment plan is credit — a financial commitment. Read the terms before signing and make sure you can afford the payments.
